Well, no. There has to be that clash of warm front meeting cold front to spawn tornadoes. But, severe thunderstorms can be all heat spawned. We get those here in the South every July and August. When you have 80% to 90% humidity, the wretched heat can just squeeze out these bursts of violent thunderstorms. They're usually over as quickly as they came and do nothing to relieve the heat or humidity.
