What it looks like, from my very white perspective is a callous and calculated cash-grab by interests – with no stake in the reasons for the holiday – looking to capitalize on a new national holiday. At the least, it's crass commercialism. At the worst, it's more white-washing in an attempt to erase the meaning behind the holiday.
