The intent was to scar you. It was intended to make you equate the rice sized embryo in your womb with a fully formed baby ready for a live birth. It was meant to inflict terror upon you, to make you believe you couldn't possibly have a choice – to force you to give birth.

What you saw was likely a late-term abortion. And, as I said, those only happen when something has already gone catastrophically wrong in the pregnancy. The fetus was almost certainly already dead. Before you jump, yes, dead tissue may still produce reflex responses. Ask any morgue attendant or funeral director.
