What you say is true in America and I'm glad you get it. In the case of Cheltic Cameleon, though, she is making a valid point. The word in her culture is not applied the way it is in the US. It simply doesn't carry the same abusive and harmful intent in UK culture.

I loathe the word because I've had it flung at me in quite horrible fashion. But, I'm still able to recognize the cultural differences in linguistic uses and meaning as separate from the American experience.

I would hate to see her erased from this platform for it. She means no more harmful intent when she uses it than does Ricky Gervais – she just doesn't have the celebrity to shield her.
