When I was studying color theory, we read about a 1980s experiment where psychologists painted drunk tank jail cells with a shade of pink that was found to calm aggressive prisoners — that color came to be named "drunk-tank-pink." A recentish British Psychological Society study found that prisoners were calmer in pink cells than in white ones.
