While I don't accept the "infatuation" argument, I have to disagree with the premise. I would say, rather, that "[connection] at first sight is a thing"
Love takes time. We grow into love, building on connection and attraction. Attraction is a spark. Connection is the flame of the light showing us the way on the path. Love is the path. It's a long journey and takes work; it's hardest and most rewarding work we'll ever do.
Everything you describe in your article is connection and attraction. Any connection is never simply infatuation. It's the connection that takes us beyond the shallow infatuation of attraction. I fully support your perception of the genuiness and depth of what you felt in that connection. But, I know, after 30 years with a man with whom I had that instant connection and attraction, that our love grew from our connection; and, we have worked to grow together and deepen our love for all of our 30 years of marrital bliss.
