With myopia, I began wearing glasses around the age of seven. And, the myopia progressed so that by the time I was twelve or so, I was legally blind without glasses. My mornings always began groping for a pair of glasses just to walk across the room.

After the surgery for cataracts a couple of years ago, my vision came out farsighted; I still need readers for text and close work. The surgery is a miracle to me. For the first time in my memory, I can see without glasses for everything else. Once both eyes were fully healed, I actually wept when I opened my eyes one morning and realized I could see without groping for glasses to walk across the room.

I did annoy my husband, though. When I could see him clearly, I blurted out, "You got old." That did not go down well. LOL
