Women have been telling these stories to each other forever. Men chose not to hear. Or, if they heard, they labeled those women as trouble makers, loud, shrill – and sometimes, insane; they literally locked her up. Women in asylums were often there for not conforming to the male imposition of womanhood.
Men chose not see the injustice their sex imposed upon us. They lived their unchecked privilege boldly because in their world, "might makes right." And, they chose not to see their peers abuse. They still choose not to see it for the most part.
Isn't it interesting? Every woman knows a woman who has been raped. But, no man knows a rapist.
I do think Gen Z and Gen Alpha are more aware though. They are the most inclusive generation. They're more socially aware. And, they are demanding social justice. They are the most aware generation ever.
Plus, Gen Z votes – in greater percentages than the hippies did at their ages. The hippies were about unplugging from society, about being outside. Gen Z is demanding change and they're choosing to be part of the change.
