Yes. I find people sharing their histories with me. It took me a long time to learn to let them. I think a lot of our ills in the world are because those of us with this gift have been taught it is a valueless burden.
IME, those of our ancestors with that gift are the ones who made extended families and extended that to communities. Shared history and someone to hear it are necessary for that to happen. Because we allow them their voice, the injustice is known and we try to give voice to the fight for justice. Or, at least, we should do that.
I think our ancestors with this gift were the storytellers. They took what they heard and crafted anonymous lessons to bring communities together, to teach sympathy and compassion, and a sense of justice. Isn't that what all the old fables and parables do?
