Yes. I too have encountered negativity and resistance to much of my personal writing. That mostly came from kin. Interestingly, it wasn't that they refuted the truth of what I wrote; they just thought it should remain secret. It was the old, "Don't tell tales outside the family" trope.

But, my writer-activism often draws some pretty negative responses. But, that is almost always from some reactionary who doesn't even read the posts before they start trolling. Them, I block – after sometimes reporting them first for more egregious trolling.

I'm glad you've learned mechanisms to help you deal with negative attacks on your writing. I cannot fathom attacking someone for telling their own history.
