Yes, religion used by men who wanted only to hold power corrupted the meaning and example of Jesus' words and actions. Religion is not Jesus. He never told us to go out and start a religion. He told us how to be in life and gave us Himself and His own life as an example to follow. Anyone not doing that is merely cloaking themselves in a veneer of religiosity that has nothing to do with faith in anything but power.
