Yes. Specifically, that's "selective biblical literalism." And, no. Science does NOT prove their beliefs on abotion or transexuality. In fact, it refutes their beliefs on those issues.

Y'know, on abortion… For I don't know how long now, I've been countering fundamentalist evangelical assertions that the Bible is against abortion. Every time a forced birther flings that nonsense at me, I give them Bible chapter and verse refuting their insupportable opinions. But, the one that always shuts them down is Numbers chapter 5. I have never… not once… not in all the years I have been pointing them to that passage… not once have they ever responded to it. The conversation ends every time.
