Y'know, people made similar wholly inconsequential criticisms about Hillary. Men's voices aren't similarly critiqued. The sound of man's voice is never a reason to shut out the words they're saying — and lots of male politicians tend to the nasally tones (Ted Cruz or Keir Starmer, for instance).
Pundits have been describing women's voices as “shrill,” “nasal,” and “distorted” since at least 1925 — and using it as a reason to disqualify women from positions of privilege or power. We can only hope the uniquely female-centric, and irrelevant-to- the-issues criticisms won't shatter another woman's prospects to become POTUS.
