You are mistaken. You need to study the legislation passed, take a look at the initiatives enacted. You seem to be buying into the rightwing demonization of what it means to be "progressive" – i.e., to create progress. It's not about being "not the Republicans" at all. It is about working for the middle class, the poor, and the marginalized. It is about compassionate governance.

It's not the fault of democrats and progressives that the rightwing has decided to demonize progress, compassion, and empathy in our society. It's not the left's fault that the right has decided to throw all their power, money, and action into dragging this society backwards into a cis-white identity fiction – their personal land of neverwas.

Don't let yourself be duped into thinking this is any kind of "both sides" set of issues. It's not both sides. One side is working and fighting for progress – which is where the political agenda of "progressive" gets its name. The other side is working to replace our democratic republic with their Dominionist vision of a theocratic corporate feudal state, where we will all be required to just shut up, have babies, and work until we die.

As for "vote-getting" legislation, don't you want to vote for people who will enact laws and policies tangibly beneficial for the middle class and poor and marginalized in America? If someone doesn't do that, the middle class will disappear, the marginalized will be oppressed, and we will all find ourselves living in the GOP's vision of a theocratic corporate feudal state.

This is not a simplistic "both sides" issue. This is a rightwing travesty – and it begins at the right's core in their Dominionist theocratic American Christian Nationalism that has nothing at all to do with Christ. Dominionism is anathema to democratic ideals. The seeds of the movement hark all the way back to "Manifest Destiny" (1845). If you don't think they aren't trying to turn this into a capitalist theocracy, you've missed reams of clarion calls warning the world. Below are just a few of those clarion calls.
