You make some cogent points. Recall how quickly the shooter in the Pulse nightclub was labeled "terrorist" and how his Middle Eastern Muslim culture was the reason for his actions. Think back to how quickly the Black Panthers officially named a terrorist organization, when the KKK never was to my knowledge.

And, I agree with you about "the slap." My perspective that it was more about people in pain trying to live out societal expectations in our blame-the-victim culture. It just feels to me that Smith was reacting exactly as misogyny told him he should, out of pain for his wife's hurt and for a past of his own powerlessness.
